As the Police (now part of a new Triple Alliance with the fireman and the prison officers) march in protest through Westminster to a rally addressed by Keith Vaz, David Davis and Nick Clegg (and attended by Ken Livingstone, Boris Johnson and Brian Paddick), this is the day when the Blair Coalition finally fell apart, and New Labour finally died.
Apologist for equality, Labour opponent of the 'Third Way'. I am social, democratic and European. Compass activist. South East rep on the Young Labour National Committee.
After a decade of New Labour, half the UK's population shares just 6% of Britain's wealth. The top 1% own a quarter of it. 11 million people - among them 3 million children - live in poverty . . . while the rich's privileges seal them off from the rest of society.
There are further questions to 'how do we win'.
What are we for, why do we want power, and why are we Labour?
Where do we want to direct the country, and where does this mean we need to direct ourselves? How about towards the democratic left?

Thank God for that.
Assuming it really has just died again, the Blair Coalition's the political equivalent of Kenny from South Park.
